The Koy in the Infinite Pond

Alone in dark, mirky waters whose surface reflects the stars from the heavens above- the koy turns abruptly. What startling revelations does it see in the infinite darkness?

This is the supernova remnant ESO 217-25, often called the Mermaid Nebula - although in this orientation it appears more like a fish. Small and faint as the blue OIII nebula is, it took a bit more effort to bring out the deep red hydrogen gas that tenously fills the field of view. I thought that the red might make the "fish" appear more like it was in a pond, but at any rate it adds more colour to what is usually just the blue nebula and darkness.
