"Messier 8 Rising"
Messier 8 or better known as the Lagoon Nebula is rising above the broken horizon of Pinnacles at Nambung National Park, Western Australia. The moon was still around 20 degrees above the horizon and you can still see some of the shadows in the foreground being cast by it. The sky took a bit of processing as it was saturated with the glow from the moon light.
This will probably be the last in this series of photos (much to everyone's relief I'm sure :) - my new telescope arrived and I'll be diverting a bit to narrow field images rather than wide field - at least for a little while.
This image is a composite of two shots through an 85mm f1.2 prime lens. The first shot to get the foreground in focus (the 85mm is pretty narrow in depth of field), and one for the sky with the tracking mount running.
