Night 2017 - IMG_7638
"Lake Ballard Dreaming"
Another photo (a panorama this time) taken on Lake Ballard, Western Australia on 25/12/2017. Looking east with the moon at 40% high and descending to the west, it lights up the hill and salt lake great but does somewhat wash out the night sky. However, there is just enough contrast to still make out the fainter reds of the Vela supernova remnant, and the other bright nebulas (at least the red ones that shine in Ha) can still clearly be made out.
Clouds from the northern horizon came over later on in the night which played havoc with my other scenes.
This was a large 52 panel mosaic through a 50mm lens. A tracking mount was used for the sky and turned off for the foreground. All camera and lens settings were kept the same for all panels. Stitching in PTGui, colour calibration, levels, saturation and contrast in Photoshop.
